Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembele in the Western Region, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has said that the mistakes by the Electoral Commission (EC) since the processes for the 2024 elections began are “one too many”.

According to him, if the issues with the voter register are not addressed, it could compromise the integrity of the upcoming December 7 polls.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s “Enough is Enough” demonstration in Takoradi, Mr. Kofi Buah said:

“We all want not just a free and fair election but to also see that the processes leading to the election are without doubt.

“…So this protest is a call to all peace-loving Ghanaians. What we are doing is to save Ghana. We want our country to move forward; we don’t want any trouble.”

He added that the NDC has “presented enough evidence for everyone to see that the register in its current form raises questions and casts doubt on the upcoming election. It is scary that when citizens point out something as serious as this, which could affect the sanctity of the election, a group would gang up against them.”

Thousands of supporters of the opposition NDC poured onto the streets of Takoradi today to protest the electoral process for the 2024 elections.

Similar demonstrations were simultaneously held at approved locations across all 16 regions of Ghana.

This comes after the party’s leadership raised concerns over discrepancies in the 2024 voter register.

The anomalies were identified after the EC released the provisional voters register to the NDC and other political parties contesting in the 2024 election.

The NDC is calling for a forensic audit of the register, which it said will enhance the credibility of the upcoming general elections.

However, the EC insists that there is no need for a forensic audit as the issues the NDC is raising are normal occurrences that will be resolved before election day.
