The Constituency Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Manhyia South in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Mustapha Alhassan, has been declared wanted by the Ashanti Region Police Command.
It is reported that Alhaji Mustapha Alhassan has been declared wanted due to some provocative remarks he made concerning the upcoming 2024 elections.
A viral video captures Alhaji Mustapha Alhassan passionately challenging the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and issuing threats of violence should they attempt to manipulate the elections.
In the video, he goes to the extent of suggesting the possibility of engaging in violent confrontations, even if it entails resorting to fatal measures, to safeguard the victory of the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the NDC in the Ashanti Region is heeding the call from the Crime Office of the Central Command to present Mustapha Alhassan.
They have expressed their intention to present Alhaji Alhassan on Tuesday for further investigation.
The accused has refused to give details of the situation, insisting the party has barred him from speaking to the media.
He, however, disclosed that he was provoked by a member of the New Patriotic Party who contended the NPP would not be ‘fools’ to hand over power to an NDC administration.
“This guy I hear is from Asenso Boakye’s camp. He is a teacher. He provoked me by saying, ‘If President J.A. Kuffour was a fool to have handed over power to the NDC, President Akufo-Addo will not be a fool to hand over power to John Mahama’,” he recounted.
Alhaji Mustapha Alhassan stated that he was unaware he was being captured on video at the time he was enraged, engaging in a banter with the supposed NPP man.
He said he felt betrayed that the video was edited to only display his side of the banter while every other provocation of his opposite man was craftily cropped out to hang him.
The disappointed organizer indicated that he respected the rights of the police to invite him and was ready to avail himself of any processes under the leadership of the National Democratic Congress.
