The National Commission on Culture (NCC) has designated the month of March for the celebration of the 2023 Wear Ghana Festival which seeks to promote Ghanaian cultural heritage.

This year’s celebration is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture in collaboration with CeeJay Multimedia, Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and Aayalolo Festival and the theme for the celebration is Wear Ghana for Ghana Jobs.

Some of the activities that will be undertaken include; an exhibition with CeeJay Multimedia, outreach programs in basic schools, NCC fashion flash, Wear Ghana on Campus, Fugu Hub Exhibit, and a traditional exhibition which will climax the event by March end.

The Wear Ghana, See Ghana, Eat Ghana, and Feel Ghana agenda was initiated by the Ministry of Tourism in 2017.

After that, the NCC also launched the Wear Ghana Festival in 2017, and since then, the month of March is used for advocacy and campaign on made-in-Ghana clothing, fashion, and fabrics.

The festival aims to showcase and promote Ghana’s cultural heritage and local textile industry, as well as to recognize creativity in the fashion industry.

It also creates an opportunity for Ghanaians in the textile industry to encourage people to patronage Ghanaian fabrics.

This year’s edition will feature several activities aimed at creating employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth in the fashion and creative industry as well.

The NCC has therefore encouraged Ghanaians to participate in the festival by wearing colorful local fabrics such as Smock, Kente, GTP, and Woodin at all state and international functions to help promote and protect Ghana’s unique cultural identity.

The Commission has also entreated Ghanaian designers to showcase their outfits at the event to attract buyers.
