National Service Nurse raped and robbed by tenant in Koforidua

A shocking incident in Koforidua in the Eastern Region has left a national service nurse traumatised after she was allegedly raped and robbed by a young man living in the same family house.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Kwame, reportedly tricked the victim into leaving her room by telling her she had a visitor waiting at the Yiadom Hwedie Palace of the New Juabemanhene.

While she was away, he quickly changed clothes, wore a mask, and sneaked into her bedroom.

When the nurse returned, Kwame confronted her with a knife and demanded her money.

Fearing for her life, she handed over more than Gh¢1,000 in cash.

Dissatisfied, the suspect also demanded a mobile money transfer, but the victim explained that she had no funds in her account.

According to police reports, Kwame then ordered the nurse to undress and forced himself on her before fleeing the scene.

Despite his attempt to disguise his appearance and voice, the victim recognised him and immediately reported the matter to the police.

Investigators swiftly launched a manhunt, which led to Kwame’s arrest.

The case has sparked outrage within the community, with many describing it as a betrayal of trust, given that the victim and suspect shared the same household.
