The Minister of National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, is expected to appear before the seven-member ad-hoc committee probing the plot to remove the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday, September 13.

This was revealed by the chairman of the committee, Samuel Atta Akyea, after Tuesday’s sitting.

Mr Kan-Dapaah is expected to answer questions regarding investigations into the leaked audio tape.

The chairman added that Chief Bugri Naabu, a former Northern Regional Minister, will reappear before the committee for further questioning.

“The witnesses should come back tomorrow with their lawyers. The IGP should come with his lawyers, the Minister of National Security should show up with his lawyers, and proceedings will continue,” he said.

This comes after the IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, appeared before the committee to respond to allegations made against him by COP George Alex Mensah and Superintendent George Lysander Asare.

During his appearance, COP Mensah accused the IGP of mismanaging the Ghana Police Service.

Supt Asare also accused the IGP of plotting the audio recording when he appeared before the committee.

But the IGP, describing the officers as his brothers, said their claims are without basis.

“They came up with wild allegations that touched my person and the entire police administration that I lead and the entirety of the police service without a shred of evidence,” Dr Dampare said.

The police officers mentioned above, and Mr Naabu were captured in the leaked IGP tape that has attracted attention nationwide.
