The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover has praised Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He described Dr Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO as a results-driven individual who will significantly contribute to the party’s success in the December polls.

Speaking at the unveiling event in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 9, Titus-Glover emphasized NAPO’s reputation as an action-oriented leader who delivers on tasks and listens to others.

He expressed confidence that NAPO’s selection will help the NPP achieve its goal of breaking the ‘8’ in the upcoming elections.

“Honourable Matthew Opoku Prempeh is a doer, he’s an action person. He’s a person that when you give him a task, just go to sleep, and he’ll give you the results. He’s very accommodating, he listens to other people,” Titus-Glover stated.

He added, “He has what it takes to break the ‘8’ for us. So for us, we think Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made the right choice.”

The NPP’s National Council confirmed Dr Opoku Prempeh, the current Energy Minister, as the running mate to Dr Bawumia for the 2024 general elections on Thursday, July 4.

This decision has garnered widespread acclaim from top party officials, including President Nana Akufo-Addo, who has expressed confidence in the duo’s ability to lead the party to victory in the 2024 general elections.

However, others have tagged him as arrogant and hotheaded.

Despite criticisms of his arrogance, the NPP has mounted a robust defence of NAPO. The party maintains that NAPO is bold, assertive, and driven, and the results of his work are evident in the lives of many young Ghanaians.

Others have suggested that NAPO use prepared scripts for future public appearances to guide his utterances and mitigate potential gaffes.

The unveiling of Dr. Opoku Prempeh marks a significant step in the NPP’s campaign for the 2024 general election, as the party rallies behind its new ticket to maintain its governance and leadership in Ghana.
