Napo expresses concerns over the Legal Education Reform Bill, 2025

Former running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, has expressed his concerns regarding the Legal Education Bill 2025.

He asserts that the primary responsibility for legal education should rest with the General Legal Council, while the government should offer support.

He believes that the government should not dictate the manner in which legal education is conducted, as this aligns with global best practices.

Napo emphasises the necessity of safeguarding the future of the legal profession at all costs, stating that the training of lawyers must never be subjected to political influence.

In a statement shared on social media, he remarked, “The Legal Education Reform Bill, 2025, is worrying”.

“Legal education must remain the core mandate of the General Legal Council, with government providing support, not direction, in line with global best practice.
