NAM 1 receiving urgent medical attention – Menzgold
Chief Executive Officer of embattled gold dealership firm, Menzgold, is currently receiving “urgent medical attention”, a statement from the company has stated.
Nana Appiah Mensah, according to the statement signed by Head of Communications of the company, Nii Amarh Amarteifio on Wednesday, August 7 “is currently receiving urgent medical attention following the excruciating nine-month ordeal in Dubai and Ghana.”
The statement explains further that the “ordeal” has drastically affected the health of the company’s CEO hence the need for him to seek medical care.
The situation notwithstanding, the company says the CEO will address the public on a number of issues including the payment of dividends.
“In the face of the incessant calls for the CEO to address the public, we wish to assure our cherished customers that in due course he will address them on the way forward,” portions of the statement read.
The company is meanwhile urging calm among agitated customers insisting that all concerns will be addressed in due course.
Nana Appiah Mensah was released from Police custody on Tuesday after meeting a GHC1 billion bail bond.
He was released hours after an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Judge Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye removed the three justifications on the five sureties it set when it granted the troubled CEO bail on the 26th of July, 2019.
The court on the said date set the bail to 1 Billion Ghana Cedis with five (5) sureties, three of which must be justified.
The three justifications for the five sureties were removed.
Effectively, all that required was for five people to present themselves to sign for NAM1 to have his liberties restored.
NAM 1 is the principal accused person in the case of the Republic versus Menzgold Ghana Limited and four others.
He was charged with abetment of crime, defrauding by false pretences, carrying on a deposit-taking business without licence, sale of minerals without licence, unlawful deposit taking, and money laundering.
