Chief executive Officer of Menzgold Company Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly referred to as NAM1 has prayed for the departed souls of customers who invested in his company and have lost their lives in their bid to retrieve their deposits.

During his interaction with the media on Monday at the MJ Grand Hotel in East Legon, the embattled businessman asked the media and all other people gathered there to join him to observe a minute of silence for the departed customers.

“May their souls rest in perfect peace as God in his infinite mercy accepts them in his bossom,” NAM1 prayed.

Two weeks ago, the Chairman for the Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold, Mr. Timothy Binob, disclosed that 25 of their members had lost their lives as a result of their inability to retrieve their locked up cash. He also indicated that several others had gone insane.

Nana Appiah Mensah’s meet the press sought to clear the air on a number of issues lingering on the minds of depositors and journalists.

From his “disappearance” while in the custody of EOCO to his incarceration in Dubai, subsequent return to Ghana and a lingering legal battle with the state, journalists from invited media houses posed question upon question to the rather reserved looking business mogul who took time to address the concerns.

He however fell short of responding to the one issue many depositors had on their minds prior to the presser. NAM 1 is still unsure of when depositors will receive funds due them except to say that with government’s intervention, he will be in a position to settle all such commitments.
