President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says, personnel from the Nation Builders Corp (NABCO) should be considered first when there is any opening for permanent employees in the various state organizations.

According to the President, NABCO trainees have contributed to every sector of the economy; education, health, local government, the digitization process, revenue mobilization and private activities.

Speaking at the one year anniversary of the Nation Builders Corp, the President reiterated that all sectors of Ghana’s economy have positive stories of valuable contributions from NABCO personnel.

President Akufo-Addo expressed his excitement for his administration’s bold steps of initiating the Nation Builders Corp adding that, he has not regretted such a major decision since its inception.

“I am very happy to be here today to join you celebrate the first anniversary of the inception of  NABCO, an initiative of government which has presented over 100,000 jobs to the young men and women with an opportunity to make a decent living for themselves and contribute their quota to national development, ” he said.

He recounted that prior to the coming into effect of the program, all those currently enrolled in NABCO would have added to the growing numbers of unemployed graduates that we have in the country.

The implication, according to President Akufo-Addo would have been grave for the youthful population.

“The previous reality was that it took decades of graduates exiting tertiary education, to find his or her feet in the labor market, ” he noted.

President Akufo urged trainees to take advantage of the opportunity to equip and develop themselves.

“As a trainee your NABCO story must be that of continual growth, ” he said.

The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment  in Ghana.

The focus of the initiative  was targeted at solving public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, governance and drive revenue mobilization and collection.
