N/ER: Deadly bridge collapse leaves one dead, several injured

One person has died and several others have been injured after a cargo truck carrying passengers and goods from Gbandri Market fell into a broken bridge between Jimbale and Wawa in the Yonyoo Nasuwani District of the North East Region.

The accident happened around 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, when the driver reportedly lost control of the truck, causing it to crash into the damaged bridge.

An eyewitness, Nicholas, told reporters that the bridge has been in a state of disrepair for nearly four years.

He described it as a “death trap” that authorities have failed to fix.

The deceased has been taken to the Bunkpurugu Hospital, where the injured victims are also receiving treatment.

Residents are again urging government authorities to repair the bridge to prevent more accidents in the future.
