Mzbel signs new artist in a traditional ceremony with schnapps and eggs

Veteran Ghanaian musician Mzbel has partnered with Icetee Records to officially introduce their newest signee, Kweku Shai, through a culturally significant oath-taking ceremony.

The event, which featured the use of schnapps and eggs, symbols of commitment in Ghanaian tradition; highlighted a deep-rooted approach to contractual agreements in the music industry.

Dressed in traditional Ga attire, Mzbel and executives of the record label pledged to uphold their commitments, reinforcing trust and loyalty, values the singer believes are fading in today’s industry.

“We are swearing an oath so the gods bear witness that we will all fulfil our part of the agreement. The money we invest should be matched with the same energy, creativity, and dedication to build the brand,” she stated.

Having experienced disappointments with previous artistes she supported, Mzbel sees this ritual as a safeguard to ensure commitment and mutual respect in the partnership.

Following the traditional rite, the formal contract was signed, officially marking the beginning of Kweku Shai’s journey with Icetee Records.
