Presidential Staffer and secretary of the Inter-ministerial Committee on illegal mining, Charles Cromwell Nanabanin Onuawonto Bissue says his lawyers will be sharing more information on his reported exoneration by the Police CID in an alleged corruption case.

Charles Bissue had been accused of taking money to help an unlicensed company (ORR Resource Enterprise) to circumvent laid down processes to be given clearance for its mining operations.

The expose by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, showed how some government officials were allegedly involved in the perpetration of wrongdoing at the expense of the President’s fight against galamsey in Ghana.

But a news publication by Daily Graphic and ABC News suggest that a police report following investigations into the alleged malpractice has cleared Mr. Bissue of any wrongdoing.

The CID, after months of investigations exonerated Mr. Bissue of any wrong doing. The final report suggested Mr. Bissue did not sidestep the laid down procedures of the IMCIM to favor the said company, ORR Resource Enterprise.

They added the Investigative team lead, Anas Aremeyaw Anas failed to avail himself and again failed to provide a copy of the unedited version of the documentary.

Speaking exclusively to The Ghana Report, Mr. Bissue said his lawyers will soon share more information on his exoneration with the Ghanaian media.

Mr. Bissue in a phone conversation with The Ghana Report did not delve into the CID’s report of exoneration but hinted how ‘unruffled’ he is about the report.

“My lawyers will speak to the media and Ghanaians on my exoneration,” he said.

But even before Mr. Bissue’s lawyers can speak to the media, Special prosecutor, Martin Alamisi Amidu, is promising to delve deeper into the issue.

Martin Amidu in a statement released Monday morning said the decision by the Ministry of Environment to refer the matter to the Police despite the fact that his office was investigating it amounts to an interference in his work.

The statement goes on to say that regardless of the decision by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service to clear Charles Bissue, his investigators will continue to investigate it.
