Telecommunications giant MTN has announced the restoration of internet network capacity, promising enhanced data services for its customers in Ghana.
Ghanaians experienced disruptions in vital internet services due to cuts to undersea fibre optic cables on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
In a statement issued on Sunday, March 24, 2024, MTN confirmed the use of alternative cables to support customers and committed to providing updates on ongoing repair efforts.
The company estimates that repairing the undersea cables may take approximately five to seven weeks.
Additionally, MTN pledged to reinstate the data bundles lost by customers during the service interruption.
“We are happy to inform you that MTN has restored normal internet network capacity to provide improved data services. We appreciate your patience during the recent service interruption,” the statement read.
