MTN Ghana offers GH₵5m Yello hope package to support gov’t COVID-19 fight
As part of its contributions, the MTN Ghana Foundation has donated GH₵5million yello package to help support government’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The amount is to help procure medical supplies including personal protective equipment and other essentials for frontline medical staff.
The company has also put in place some measures to ensure continuity of services, safety of employees, customers, communities and suppliers against potential infections.
Free internet connectivity to education sites, connectivity for all government portals, free momo transfers and revision of MoMo wallet limits are among the interventions introduced by the company.
The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh, commenting on the foundation’s support said the coronavirus is testing the country’s fortitude hence the the need to work together.
“COVID-19 is, unquestionably, testing society’s fortitude and we all have a role to play in helping overcome this global challenge. From the onset, we made a commitment to provide the needed assistance to help the country, businesses and the entire society stay connected to their work and loved ones.
“We believe that we are good together as a people especially in these times when we all must pitch in to fight this pandemic. We are confident that together we will overcome this challenge,” he indicated.
The Board Chairman of the MTN Ghana Foundation, Professor Franklin Manu also noted that “the MTN Ghana Foundation has been at the forefront of Corporate Social Investments in the country.”
He believes this is the opportune time to support the government in its fight against the deadly pandemic.
“We are very happy to support with the purchase of these much-needed medical supplies as we complement government’s efforts in the fight against Covid-19,” he said.
