Five students of Mpraeso Senior High School (SHS) in the Eastern Region have been arrested for an alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old female student.
Three other students involved in the heinous act are still on the run.
The incident occurred on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
The victim shared her harrowing experience, recounting how she was approached by a male student while walking with a friend to buy food from the school’s canteen.
As the male student got closer to her, seven others joined, and her friend left.
According to her, she was not aware of the conversation between the suspects and her friend before departing.
She explained that subsequently, the eight students forcibly assaulted her sexually.
The victim has undergone medical checks and is seeking justice, stating, “I want the suspects to face the full rigour of the law.”
The headmaster of Mpreaso SHS, James Affadu, confirmed the incident and announced that the disciplinary committee had dismissed all eight suspects involved in the matter.
The case has been handed over to the police for further investigation and action.
The Nkwatia Divisional Police Command is currently processing the suspects for prosecution.
