MP Demands Justice For Two Hunters Shot By Police Officers On Patrol

Daffiama-Bussie-Issa MP Sebastian Sandaare has called for an expedited investigation into the shooting of two hunters in the Upper West Region.

The victims, who were returning from a hunting expedition, were allegedly fired upon by police officers during a routine patrol.

According to reports, the duo had run out of fuel and had made a stop to refill when they unexpectedly encountered the police officers, who swiftly opened fire without any apparent provocation.

As a result, one hunter sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, while the other was shot in the abdomen.

The unfortunate incident is said to have occurred around 5 pm.

The incident has left the town in despair, with many calling for justice. The Daffiama-Bussie-Issa MP is leading the charge for immediate action.

Expressing his outrage, MP Sandaare criticized the officers’ actions, stating, “Local hunters were out seeking sustenance, and instead, they were met with gunfire. What’s even more concerning is the lack of concern shown towards the victims following the shooting. They were left unattended until they reached out to their community members to narrate this unfortunate incident”.

He further added, “It is a deeply regrettable situation, and I implore the police administration, regional commander, Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the Ministry of the Interior to intervene promptly and ensure that justice is served,” he said on Joynews monitored by theghanareport.com.

Over the years, there have been recurring concerns surrounding the use of excessive force by law enforcement officers.

Instances of police brutality in Ghana have often come to the forefront during protests, demonstrations, and public gatherings.
