The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced that there will be a series of traffic diversions along the Accra-Tema Motorway.

This is due to the construction work on the bridge connecting the Flowerpot area to East Legon.

A statement from the ministry emphasized the importance of these traffic diversions to ensure the safety and efficiency of the ongoing construction.

Motorists are strongly advised to exercise caution, observe the posted speed limits, and closely follow the traffic management signs placed strategically throughout the affected areas during this construction period.

To facilitate the construction project, six height restriction gantries, measuring between 4 to 5 meters, will be positioned at various points along the Accra-Tema Motorway leading to the construction site.

Vehicles exceeding the height limit of 4.5 meters will be redirected to follow a designated alternative route.

The Flowerpot Interchange project represents a critical infrastructure development to improve transportation connectivity and reduce congestion in the region.

The Department of Urban Roads expressed gratitude for the public’s cooperation and understanding during this construction phase as the project strives to meet its scheduled completion date.

The ministry and department sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that may arise due to these necessary traffic diversions and construction activities.

The project encompasses the construction of a mainline bridge spanning 802 meters, two ramp bridges spanning 220 meters, and four auxiliary roads covering a distance of 2.5 kilometres.

Additionally, ancillary works, including the installation of drains, culverts, streetlights, and road line markings, will be carried out.

Funding for this crucial infrastructure project is being provided through collaboration between the Government of Ghana and the Afriexim Bank.

Below is a statement from the ministry.
