A motorcyclist has died, and a driver is in critical condition after a triple collision on the N1 Highway in the Greater Accra Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred after a speeding tipper truck attempted to overtake a pick-up vehicle entering the Accra-Lapaz route of the N1 highway from the Accra-Ashaiman route.
The truck collided with the pick-up truck and subsequently collided with the motorcycle.
The heavy-duty truck crushed the motorcyclist to death on the spot.
Meanwhile, the pick-up got mangled beyond repairs trapping the injured driver inside.
It took about an hour of rescue efforts by eyewitnesses and emergency workers to save the injured pick-up driver from the wreckage.
This is similar to the accident in which an Okada rider and a passenger were crushed to death by a tipper truck carrying sand from Akotoe to Asesewa in the Eastern Region on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
According to reports, the motorbike rider lost control in an attempt to overtake the truck.
The motorcycle slid and fell under the truck.
The rider succumbed to injuries and died on the spot.

The passenger was rushed to the Asesewa Hospital.
Despite efforts to save his life, he passed away a few hours later.
On Monday, two persons also died following a collision between a taxi and a truck on the Juapong road in the Volta Region.
According to witnesses, the taxi driver collided with a parked truck on the side of the road after failing to notice it on time.
The impact of the collision was so strong that the taxi was left in a severely mangled state and unrecognizable.
Upon arrival, the emergency services were forced to cut into the mangled wreckage to rescue the two occupants of the taxi.
Both victims, whose identities had as yet not been established, were declared dead at the scene.
