Mother Of One Shot Dead In Kumasi; Police Launch Manhunt For Suspect

Police in Kumasi are currently on a manhunt for an unidentified man who allegedly fired multiple shots at a woman, resulting in her death.

The incident occurred in the Adum district of Kumasi on Thursday (April 20, 2023) night.

Eyewitnesses report that the man only known as Tycoon fired five shots at close range, killing 26-year-old Victoria Dapaa, who was also known as Maa Adwoa.

The victim, who was a mother of one, was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The mother of the deceased who has been left distraught said her daughter had received a call from the said Tycoon and was seen talking to her before shooting her at close range.

“When she received the call, we told her not to step out. All her brothers advised her not to but she refused. She said she will be back shortly. Now, look at what has happened, she never came back. Where is my daughter? Where is my daughter?” the mother of the victim said in tears.

After the act, the man is said to have jumped into a rickshaw, commonly referred to as a Pragya in Ghana, and fled the scene.

The police are currently investigating the incident and have appealed to anyone with information about the suspect to come forward.
