Mother, daughter, among 10 killed in gory accident at Ho

An accident involving a 207 Benz with registration number GR 1645 W and a rubbish compactor at the foot of the Galenku Hill at Ho Bankoe has claimed the lives of 10 people. 

This incident happened on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at about 4 pm when the mini-bus travelling from Taviefe towards Ho ran into the heavy-duty truck ascending the hill from the opposite direction.

According to an eyewitness, the minivan experienced a brake failure while descending the hill, causing it to veer into the truck’s lane.

The impact was so significant that the truck got thrown off the road while the mini-van got mangled beyond description.

On the top of the mini-van were sheep and fowl, some of which also died in the accident.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service managed to pull out the driver of the truck, who was trapped for nearly an hour.

It was a horrifying scene as the dead were strewn on the road.

Among the deceased were a mother and her baby girl.

Many at the scene broke down, seeing the lifeless infant lying on her dead mother on the ground.

Personnel of the National Ambulance Service turned up to convey the dead and injured to the Ho Teaching Hospital.

The incident has thrown the Volta Region capital into a state of mourning.

The deceased and injured are yet to be identified.
