Mother Arrested For Burning Daughter With Hot Iron Over Missing Money

A 31-year-old woman is currently in police custody for allegedly burning her 12-year-old daughter with a hot iron over missing GH¢5.

The incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, June 18, 2023, was punishment for misplacing the money.

According to reports, the suspect had sent her daughter to buy local gin, known as akpeteshie, and cigarettes, with the money.

Unfortunately, the victim lost the money on her way and returned home without the items.

Enraged by the situation, the mother plugged in an electric iron and pressed it forcefully against the victim’s chest, causing burns on her breast.

Despite the child’s pleas for mercy, no one came to her rescue, as her father was away at work during the incident.

A concerned passerby who overheard the cries for help promptly reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the mother.

She is currently in custody and is expected to appear in court to face charges related to the alleged abuse.
