Money NPP shared in Ejisu by-election is more than IMF loan to Ghana – Hopeson

A leading member of Alan Kyeremanten’s Movement for Change has said the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) shared money in the Ejisu by-election is more than the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan to the Ghana Government.

According to Hopeson Adorye, the New Patriotic Party’s candidate Kwabena Boateng couldn’t have won the by-election if the NPP had not induced the electorate in the constituency with money and other items.

“Everybody in the country knows that the ruling government bought the by-election but my question is, can the NPP buy the December 7th general elections 2024 like they did in Ejisu?’’ he asked.

Describing the NPP’s tactics as shameful, he alleged the amount the NPP spent in the Ejisu Constituency during the by-election campaign activities is more than what the government is looking for from the IMF.

“I’m saying the money the NPP shared in the Ejisu by-election in their campaign activities is more than the IMF money. People of Ejisu need roads, they need classrooms; they could have used that money to construct classrooms. Go and look at Bonwire market that Aduomi started, its construction is still there it has not been completed they could have used that money to complete the market for them but they went about sharing just to convince people to go and vote. We are waiting for them on December 7, 2024 come what may the NPP is going into opposition,’’ he said.

Hopeson Adorye, however, threatened to lead a massive demonstration against the Ghana Police Service if they fail to arrest and prosecute Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, Member of Parliament who was caught on camera allegedly inducing two temporal Electoral Commission (EC) election officials with money in a white envelope.

“There’s a video, it was live on TV everybody in the country saw it and the video is there if Ghana Police Service fails to arrest Kingsley Nyarko we are going to demonstrate day in and day out for them to arrest him. It is a crime to give money to electoral officers at a polling station you cannot do that. Just look at the way and manner he did that. That is the inducement I was talking about. What was his intention, for them to relax the rules or what? You gave money to voters to vote for you, you again want electoral officers to cheat for you? What I’m saying is that Ghana Police must arrest the Kwadaso MP, he fumed.
