Momo vendor allegedly commits suicide at Somanya

The police are investigating the death of a 25-year-old man at Akweteyman, a suburb of Somanya in the Eastern Region.

According to reports, the deceased, identified as Kpobi Aaron was seen in the morning but was discovered about an hour later hanging from a tree on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

The body was discovered by a passerby who raised an alarm to draw the attention of other residents.

His feet were allegedly on the ground while his buttocks were about a foot off the ground with a plastic bag wrapped around his neck.

The employer of the deceased, Rahwanji Zohherr reported the discovery to the Somanya police after he was informed of the incident.

He said a customer informed him that Aaron was unreachable after he had scheduled a meeting with him.

However, after several attempts to reach him proved futile, he rushed to the scene to realize the deceased was his employee.

The police went to the scene and after a careful inspection, moved the body to the Yilo Krobo District Hospital morgue after he was pronounced clinically dead by a  medical officer, Dr. Michael Adu Bimpong.

According to police sources, they will “investigate the death thoroughly since foul play is suspected looking at the state and position of the deceased at the scene.”
