The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has given Electronic Money Issuers (EMIs) until Wednesday, January 31, 2024, to link their accounts with the Ghana Card or Tax Identification Number (TIN).

According to the chamber, failure to comply will result in blocking their SIM cards.

A statement from the chamber said this comes after extensive discussions with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

While issuing a final warning, it added that relevant information regarding this exercise has been communicated directly to affected agents through various channels.

The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications added that agents who find their accounts suspended on February 1, 2024, can visit any operator outlets with their Ghana Card or TIN to complete the necessary linking process.

“We understand the importance of mobile financial services in facilitating financial inclusion and economic growth in the country. Therefore, we remain committed to taking the necessary steps to deliver convenient, secure and accessible financial services to all Ghanaians,” the chamber said.
