Mohammed Salisu signs four-year deal with Southampton
English Premier League club Southampton are reported to have completed the signing of Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu.
The 21-year-old officially signed a four-year contract after passing a mandatory medical test in Spain.
The English side reached an agreement with Real Valladolid for the acquisition of the Ghanaian international for a transfer fee of €12 million.
Salisu joined Valladolid’s youth setup in 2017 and has made 34 first-team appearances in his debut season.
Following his exploits at Real Valladolid, he emerged on the radar of several clubs including Manchester United, West Ham United, Everton, Stade Rennes among others.
Southampton is set to announce in the coming days the signing of the Ghanaian defender after securing his work permit.
Salisu earned a call-up to the senior national team of Ghana under Coach Kwesi Appiah for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principle but he missed out due to injury.
