Mohammed Kudus shortlisted for Golden Boy Award
Ghanaian international, Kudus Mohammed has been shortlisted for the 2020 Golden Boy Award.
The Nordsjaelland wonder kid made the shortlist of players under the age 21 vying for the prestigious award due to his impressive form in the Danish Superliga this season.
The award initiated by Italian newspaper Tuttosport rewards the best young player (under the age of 21) in Europe.
The first edition of the award was staged in 2003, which Dutchman Rafael van der Vaart won. The likes of Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Aguero are past winners of the award.
The paper on Monday announced this year’s list of 100, which will be whittled down over the coming months until the winner is announced.
Among the shortlisted are Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Braut Haaland; Callum Hudson-Odoi of Chelsea; Jadon Sancho, Curtis Jones, Alphonso Davies, and others.
Kudus impressive performance at FC Nordsjaelland in the 2019/20 season, has landed him on the transfer radar of some top European clubs, including Lazio, Everton, Sampdoria, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille, Fenerbahce and Stade Rennes, Manchester City and Liverpool.
He has featured in both U17 and U20 teams of Ghana.
He earned his first a call-up to the senior national team of Ghana where he scored on his debut for the senior national team of Ghana against South Africa in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations last November.
