Mobile money vendor robbed of GH₵ 55k at Koforidua

A mobile money vendor has been attacked and robbed of GH₵ 55,000 at Atwima Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The incident occurred Monday afternoon (July 22, 2024) as the vendor was returning from the bank to his shop.

Information gathered indicates that two robbers on a motorbike had followed the vendor from the bank.

After getting to his shop, the two robbers approached him under the pretext of withdrawing cash.

In a swift move, the pillion rider snatched the bag containing the money while the motorbike rider sped off, leaving the vendor and bystanders in shock.

The police were alerted, and an investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits.

This incident comes after the Police arrested two persons in connection with a robbery attack and murder of a mobile money vendor and one other person at Walewale in the North East Region.

The suspects are reported to be farmers: 37-year-old Zakaria Yamusa, popularly known as Vandam and 33-year-old Fatao Issah.

According to police reports, the suspects shot and killed two people, including a mobile money vendor, and further caused injuries to seven other people during the attack on Monday, February 12, 2024.

The police administration has assured all involved in the case of justice while investigations continue.
