Missing immigration officer found dead
The remains of Steffen King Amoah, a 38-year-old immigration officer who went missing on July 3, 2025, have been found at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya in the Greater Accra region.
Following their inability to contact him, the family filed a report with the Taifa Police on July 4, 2025, around 4:30 p.m.
The deceased reportedly left his home at Gye Nyame House, Musuku Junction, to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate in Accra.
His brother, Akwasi Amoako, confirmed the tragic news, stating that Steffen’s body showed multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck.
It appeared that his assailants had attempted to destroy evidence by partially burning his body, which was believed to have been wrapped in a woollen carpet found on the Abuom-Abokobi road.
Steffen joined the Ghana Immigration Service in 2013, and his body has since been taken to the Police Hospital Mortuary for identification by his brother and other relatives.
Originally from the Old Tafo neighbourhood in Kumasi, Steffen gained popularity in the Sports Department at the Ghana Immigration Service headquarters. He is also well known to be a Kotoko fan.
He married his partner, a policewoman, on March 28, 2018, in Tafo Nhyiaeso, and the couple are blessed with two children: a four-year-old boy and a five-month-old baby.
The suspect, a 36-year-old man whom Steffen went to visit on Monday, July 8, 2025, was remanded into custody by the Kwabenya Circuit Court.
