The Ministry for the Interior has renewed the curfew hours for the Chereponi Township and its environs in the North East Region.
In a press statement, the new curfew hours, signed by Minister Henry Quartey, are from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am.
The press statement urged all leaders and residents in the community to adhere to the curfew hours or face dire consequences.
“We urge the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them,” said Minister Quartey.
“We encourage them to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.”
The renewed curfew comes as part of efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Additionally, a total ban has been placed on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapon in the affected communities and their environs.
“Any person found with arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” warned Minister Quartey.
The Ministry for the Interior is working to ensure the safety and security of all citizens in the region and urges cooperation from the public to maintain peace and order.

The Minister for the Interior has by Executive Instrument renewed the curfew hours for Chereponi Township and its environs in the North East Region from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am effective, Wednesday, August 21, 2024
Government continues to urge Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.
Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the afore-mentioned communities and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
