Milovan Rajevac to effect changes to Black Stars’ World Cup qualifier squad

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac is currently monitoring players who have featured for the Black Stars in the World Cup qualifiers under former coach Charles Akonnor.

According to the 67-year-old trainer, he is yet to announce his call ups for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers but that will be based on players’ commitment and performance at their club level.

Rajevac is reported to be working on the squad named by the former coach for the doubleheader against Zimbabwe next month.

Akonnor is said to have named the squad before he was sacked by the Ghana Football Association for non-performance.

Rajevac has also requested to watch the last 10 games played by the Black Stars under the former coach and that will influence his decision in naming his squad ahead of the game.

Rajevac arrived in the country last Monday to begin his second stint with the team after signing a one-year performance-based contract with the Ghana Football Association.

The Serbian coach has been given a task to qualify the Black Stars for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Qatar next year.

He will receive a $300,000 winning package should he secure qualification to the World Cup.

The Serbian is expected to name his squad this week for the two games against Zimbabwe.
