The Electoral Commission (EC) has ordered the resumption of the suspended collation process for the Ablekuma North constituency results at the Greater Accra Regional Collation Centre.
The directive follows heightened tensions as National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters gathered outside, accusing officials of attempting to subvert the electoral process.
Inside the collation centre, a standoff ensued between NDC and New Patriotic Party (NPP) representatives, with heated accusations from both sides.
The collation process was suspended on Monday after results from 219 out of 281 polling stations were processed.
Earlier today, the process was halted again due to escalating disputes. During heated exchanges between party officials, some louvre blades were shattered amid the chaos.
Former NDC Deputy General Secretary Peter Otokunor revealed that EC Chairperson Jean Mensa intervened, instructing the officials to resume collation.
However, the Returning Officer and the NPP candidate are yet to return to the collation centre.
Outside, a large crowd of NDC supporters demands an immediate declaration of results.
To restore order, the military has been deployed to support the police in maintaining calm and ensuring the safety of electoral officials.
