Two brothers, Aziz Mohammed and Mahama Yakobu, have sustained serious injuries after being shot by alleged military men in the Bole District of the Savannah Region.
This incident happened on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
Aziz Mohammed and Mahama Yakobu sustained head and arm injuries and were rushed to the Bole Hospital for treatment.
Some residents have alleged that military men were sent to chase out all those involved in illegal mining in the district.
Some residents have also attributed the raid to the recent happenings where some 20 individuals were unnaturally killed without a single arrest.
Reports indicate that the illegal miners are suspected of being behind the recent killings in the Bole district.
As a result of this raid, some residents fled the town for fear of their lives.
As of the time of this report, no arrest has been made yet.
The experts include a crime scene management team, forensic experts, intelligence officers and homicide investigators who are in the region to work with the Regional Command on the cases.
Police visibility and patrols have been significantly increased, and additional operational officers have been deployed to the town and neighbouring communities to enhance security.
The service, in a statement issued on June 7 and signed by the Director of Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, said, “the Police are working closely with the traditional and religious leaders as well as the community members to resolve this unfortunate situation.”
“We wish to assure the public, especially the affected communities, to remain calm since the Police are committed to pursuing the perpetrators of this heinous crime.”
