Middlemen have not been tasked to charge enlistment fees – GAF warns

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have cautioned the public to desist from paying illegal monies to middlemen or agents, promising to secure placement in the Military Academy for potential applicants as enlistment has commenced.

GAF, in a statement issued on October 30, emphasized that middlemen have not been employed to take illegal monies, nor is the Armed Forces charging any fees for enlistment.

“GAF wishes to remind the general public that it does not employ middlemen or charge fees for enlistment. The public is therefore strongly advised to desist from paying monies to any person(s) who present themselves as agents or middlemen with the promise to help potential applicants enter the Ghana Military Academy”.

“The Ghana Armed Forces further wishes to state that individuals who present themselves as middlemen, intermediaries, or agents demanding payment in order to assist any candidate(s) should be reported to the nearest Military Installation or Police Station. In the same vein, interested applicants who choose to pay monies to purported agents for help are equally culpable in the fraudulent act”, the statement signed by A. Amarteye, Lieutenant Colonel for Director General Public Relations for GAF, stated.

The publicity for the 2023 recruitment of eligible Ghanaians into the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) began on October 26.

The institution, in a statement, noted that the applications are open to citizens between the ages of 18 and 26 who are ‘unmarried, of good character, and medically fit”.

“Applicants must also have a minimum of six credits at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) level, including English and Mathematics, or a minimum of six credits at the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) level, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science”.

Alternatively, “applicants may have a minimum of six credits at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) level, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science”.

“Those with GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels must have five credits, including English Language and Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level and at least three subjects at GCE ‘A’ Level, including General Paper. Finally, applicants must have a minimum of a First Degree, not below Second Class Lower”.

Interested candidates who wish to apply are required to purchase an Electronic Voucher from a designated post office. The voucher costs GH¢350.00. Once the voucher has been purchased, candidates can log on to the recruitment portal @ http://apply.mil.gh with any of the following browsers: a. Mozilla Firefox b. Google Chrome and submit their applications online.

There are additional requirements for Regular Career Office Course Candidates in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Tri-Service Corps – Regular Career Officer Candidates Army/Navy/Air Force as well as Short Service Commission Army/Navy/Airforce.

The closing date for submission of applications is Sunday, November 19, 2023.
