Michael Osekre reportedly in line to replace Kwesi Appiah on GFA Executive Council

Vision FC Owner and Kurt Okraku’s Chief of Staff, Michael Bogdan Osekre, is reportedly a candidate to replace Kwesi Appiah on the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association.

This possibility arises because the Sudan head coach has reportedly been advised to resign from his role due to an alleged conflict of interest.

Despite growing calls for his resignation, Appiah has refused to step down, according to journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai, who reported on August 14, 2024, that he was told to resign.

During a recent Executive Council meeting, Appiah reportedly excused himself when discussions about the Black Stars, Ghana’s national team, began.

Appiah was elected to the Executive Council after his tenure with Asante Kotoko’s IMC, prior to his appointment as Sudan coach.

Ghana will face Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, raising concerns about a conflict of interest as discussions about the Black Stars occur during Executive Council meetings.
