Meet the Ghanaian players in the Uefa Europa League and their group stage opponents
Thomas Partey – Arsenal
Deputy Black Stars captain Partey will feature for Arsenal drawn in Group A of the UEFA Europa League this season.
The English Premier League outfit has been paired against PSV, Bodo/Glimt and FC Zurich.
Partey will hope to excel in the European second-tier competition following the Gunners’ impressive run this season after winning their first three matches in the Premier League.
Kamaldeen Sulemana – Rennes
Highly rated youngster Kamaldeen Sulemana will feature in the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League season with Stade Rennes’who have been drawn in Group B alongside Dynamo Kyiv, Turkey’s Fenerbahce and AEK Larnaca.
Kamaldeen will use the tournament to regain his confidence after being out of action for a while.
He was involved in six goals in 11 starts in the Ligue 1 last season before injury kept him out for a majority of the second-round fixtures.
Osman Bukari – Red Star Belgrade
In form, Osman Bukari will be hoping for an impressive Europa campaign with the Red Star Belgrade who have been pitted in Group H alongside French side Monaco, Ferencvaros and Trabzonspor.
Bukari has scored three goals in five appearances in the league for the Serbian giants since joining the club on a four-year deal from KAA Gent.
He has become a key player in the team’s set after a few games and even scored a hattrick in the Champions League play-off
Daniel-Kofi Kyereh – Freiburg
Kyereh will feature in the Europa with German side Freiburg after securing a move to the club from St. Pauli where he had a successful stint.
His side Freiburg were pitted in Group G, where they will face Qarabag, Olympiacos and Nantes.
Bernard Tekpetey – Ludogorets
Tekpetey and his team Ludogorets Razgrad have been drawn in Group C alongside HJK Helsinki, AS Roma and Spanish outfit Real Betis.
He was instrumental in his team’s qualification to the group stage of the competition when he provided two assists in two games in Europa League qualifying games including their 3-3 draw with Zalgiris Vilnius to qualify with a 4-3 advantage on aggregate.
Kwabena Owusu – Qarabag
Kwabena Owusu will play in the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League with Qarabag who have been drawn in Group G with Olympiacos, Nantes and Freiburg.
He has scored one goal and provided an assist in three league appearances for Qarabag this season.
Malik Abubakari – HJK Helsinki
Abubakari’s HJK Helsinki have been drawn in Group C alongside Ludogorets Razgrad, AS Roma and Real Betis.
Abubakari, who is on loan from Swedish side Malmo FF, got his first goal in four Europa League qualifying games for his side aiding their advancement into the group stages.
Abubakari scored an outstanding effort in Helsinki’s 1-1 result against Silkeborg to give the Finnish side a 2-1 aggregate win.
Razak Abalorah/Edmund Addo /Patrick Kpozo/Salifu Mudasiru – Sherrif Tiraspol
Ghanaian quartet Razak Abalorah, Salifu Mudasiru, Edmund Addo and Patrick Kpozo represent Moldovan side Sherrif Tiraspol who have been drawn in Group E.
The four players are in the group alongside Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Omonia.
Edmund Addo will look forward to another Champions League appearance after an impressive competition show last season.
He was very influential for his side as they provided one of the biggest ever shocks of the competition when they defeated 13-time champions Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, the likes of Abalorah, Mudasiru and Kpozo will be looking for their champions league debut.
Emmanuel Lomotey – Malmo FF
Malmo FF newly signed Lomotey will have an opportunity to feature in the Europa League when they play Braga, Union Berlin and St Gilloise in Group D.
The 24-year-old joins the club on a four-year deal from French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC.
The Europa League campaign will start on September 8, 2022.
