Kencity’s Media personality Martin Kwabena Kwakye, popularly known as Wofa K.K. will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
The burial date was announced when the family paid a courtesy call to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on April 8 to brief him about planned activities for the final interment of their beloved.
The funeral would take place at the forecourt of the State House in Accra, and the mortal remains would later be sent to Sekyere-Kwamang in the Ashanti region, where he would be laid to rest.
At the meeting, the family expressed profound gratitude to the President for appointing the late Kwabena Kwakye to the Board of the Ghana National Petroleum Authority (GNPC) when he was alive.
Additionally, they expressed appreciation to the President for selecting the Vice President and Chief of Staff to represent and commiserate with the family during the one-week observance of K.K.
President Akufo-Addo assured the family of joining them for the final funeral rites of Wofa K.K. on the said date.
Wofa KK, a broadcaster on Oman 107.1 FM in Accra, mysteriously died on February 14, 2024, after a short illness.
Wofa KK contributed significantly to Oman FM’s programming, notably on shows like ‘Boiling Point’ and ‘National Agenda’, where he often filled in for the regular host, Fiifi Boafo.
He also served as a parliamentary and presidential correspondent at Net2 TV.
In 2017, Kwabena Kwakye was appointed to the Board of the Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) by President Akufo-Addo under the chairmanship of former acting National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay.
