The Ministry of Roads and Highways has reiterated the government’s commitment to fixing the deteriorating roads in the country.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry urged Ghanaians to exercise patience as it diligently works to repair roads that have been adversely affected.

“The attention of the Ministry of Roads and Highways (MRH) has been drawn to concerns being raised by the public and some sections of the media regarding potholes which have emerged on some roads in the country due to recent heavy rains,” the statement explained.

According to the ministry, the rainy season has inevitably led to the deterioration of some older roads.

However, the ministry said an emergency maintenance programme was underway to address the issue.

It also said that measures are being implemented to address critical sections of roads significantly affected across the country due to the onset of rains.

Emphasizing the commitment to expand the nation’s road network and ensure regular maintenance, the ministry highlighted the ongoing efforts to tackle the current road challenges.  Specifically, maintenance works are currently underway on the Teshie Tsui Bleoo Road and Fertilizer Road.

The ministry urged the public to remain patient and cooperative during this process, knowing that significant progress is being made to improve the road infrastructure throughout the nation.

Below is the statement to that effect.
