McDan private jet terminal shut over $3m debt

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has closed the McDan Aviation Private Jet Terminal over an outstanding debt exceeding $3 million, which includes unpaid land leases, rentals, and terminal charges.

This is the second time McDan Aviation has faced such a shutdown.

In February 2022, GACL suspended McDan’s operations at Terminal 1 of Kotoka International Airport due to operational breaches.

The Ghana Airports Company Divisional Union Chairman, Alhaji Abdul Issaka Bamba, expressed support for the closure, emphasising that the debt had been long overdue.

He warned that other partners with similar financial issues would face similar action.

Sources indicate police have been stationed at the terminal’s entrance to prevent access.

McDan Aviation launched its private jet terminal and services in January 2022, though the event was boycotted by key figures in the aviation sector, including the Minister of Transport, due to concerns over the company’s operations.
