Public Relations Officer of Bibiani Gold Stars, Samuel Kwagyire, has stated that Maxwell Konadu has declined the club’s head coaching offer.
He said this in an exclusive interview in the wake of the club’s 3-1 win over Kpando Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani.
The win that had Samuel Attah Kumi continue his brilliant start to the season by scoring Gold Stars’ third goal ended Heart of Lions’ five game unbeaten run in the league.
The game also marked yet another game played by Bibiani without a substantive head coach following the shock dismissal of Stephen Frimpong Manso who led the team to win the league title last season.

Frimpong Manso was dismissed after Gold Stars lost 2-0 to Algerian side JS Kabylie in the first leg of a first round CAF Champions League tie and former Nsoatreman FC head coach Maxwell Konadu was earmarked for the job but this apparently is off the table.

“With arrangement and other things, coach Maxwell Konadu came to mind, he was about taking the mantle as the head coach for Bibiani Gold Stars but then the discussion with Maxwell Konadu at a point in time, we got to know that Maxwell Konadu…cannot take the mantle as the head coach for Bibiani Gold Stars due to his own personal reasons” Kwagyire said and added that

“As I speak to you management of Gold Stars is still working on getting a substantive coach to take over.”

Gold Stars take on Berekum Chelsea in an outstanding league game on Thursday, October 23.
