The Microfinance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC) has donated some items in support of Okyenhene’s 20th-anniversary celebration as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

The items include 30 crates of bottled water, a box of black Label, two boxes of Schnapps, crates of can Heineken, 15 crates of soft drinks, a Hamper with an unspecified amount of money and a big ram.

In a delegation led by Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Amoah, and Board Chair, Seth Agyei Baah, the center indicated that the donation to the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, is to celebrate his distinguished feat as a traditional ruler for the past two decades.

According to Public Relations Officer of MASLOC, Frederick Ohene Offei Addo, the center recognizes the immense contributions of the Okyenhene to national development since ascending the stool, particularly, in the area of environmental protection and sustainability.

He indicated that the Center gave the same support to the Ashanti Monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and will continue showing the same commitment to other distinguished traditional rulers for their contributions in improving the living standards of the people, especially members of their respective communities.

Mr. Ohene Addo further noted in an interview with Accra-based Starr FM that the Center under its current management has so far disbursed Ghc85million to small-scale businesses and individuals out of which 70% of the beneficiaries are women.

According to the Officer, the recovery rate efficiency of such loans has been increased to 55%

On his part, the Okyenhene expressed his gratitude to the team and used the opportunity to remind government appointees of the need to serve the nation with sincerity and efficiency.

The Okyenhene, real name, Odehye Kwame Amoatia Ofori Atta ascended the Ofori Panin stool on Monday, October 4, 1999, which made him the 35th King to have ascended the throne.

On his ascension, Amoatia Ofori Panin pledged to introduce economic development, commercial growth and seek the progress and welfare of the over 900 towns and villages under his authority.

Osagyefo stated that he will improve the health, education and protect the environment noting that “the success of my reign is dependent totally on my ability as your leader to ensure that our future – our children – is really secure.” (Coronation speech, Oct. 11TH 1999).

Among some of the fulfilled achievements include the establishment of the Okyeman Environment Foundation (OEF) to manage environmental concerns in Akyem Abuakwa.  He also established the Okyenhene’s Annual Children’s Christmas Party to motivate children in Okyeman by awarding the top three primary students in each class.
