Mario Balotelli set to terminate contract with Genoa
Italian international of Ghanaian descent, Mario Balotelli, may terminate his contract with Genoa due to a lack of playing time at the club.
Since joining the Rossoblu as a free agent in October 2024, Balotelli has struggled to find minutes on the pitch, managing only 56 minutes over six substitute appearances.
Sources say, the 34-year-old is considering parting ways with Genoa after a challenging period.
With Caleb Ekuban and Jeff Ekhator returning from injury, Balotelli could face even more limitations regarding playing time.
Reports suggest that Balotelli is evaluating his options, having garnered interest from the Mexican side Cruz Azul.
The contract with Genoa includes a clause that allows either party to terminate the agreement before its natural expiration.
Balotelli reportedly has reservations about taking on a secondary role until next June, especially since Andrea Pinamonti is viewed as the first-choice striker. Cruz Azul is said to be willing to offer Balotelli a contract worth €2 million per season, should he decide to make the move.
