Man who sold state land for GHC55k granted bail
A 64-year-old self employed man has been granted bail by the Accra Circuit Court for selling state land for GH¢55,000.00.
The accused, Daniel Jibril Annan, was given a bail of GH¢60, 000 with three sureties.
The facts of the case presented in court is that the complainant is a Managing Executive living in Bortianor, while the accused is self employed and resides at Ayawaso.
Prosecution said in March 2019, the complainant wanted to buy land for his block manufacturing business, for which reason he contacted the accused person.
The accused showed a piece of land at Ayawaso that he intended selling.
Police said the complainant showed interest.
The accused collected an amount of GHC55,000.00 and issued the complainant with a site plan and indenture.
But the complainant later detected that another person was working on the land.
He informed the accused person, who said to give him sometime to find out who the said person was.
The matter was reported to police and a search was conducted on the document.
It was found out that the land is State Land that was acquired under Executive Instrument dated May 12, 1978.
After investigation, the accused person was charged with the offence and put before court.
He is to reappear on May 5, 2021.
