A Dambai Magistrate Court has remanded 42-year-old Ibrahim Anas, who inflicted cutlass wounds on his pregnant wife at Banda in the Oti Region.

The prosecutor, Chief Inspector S.K. Gavor, told the court that the suspect inflicted the cutlass wounds on Mesuna Adiza on May 28, 2024.

He said the police were called to the accused’s farm in Banda to find the victim in a pool of blood, her stomach, forehead, mouth, shoulder and hands bleeding profusely from multiple deep cutlass cuts.

She was quickly rushed to the Banda Health Centre and was later referred to the Kpandai Polyclinic in the Northern region for intensive care.

He said the suspect was apprehended and sent to the police station, where his caution statement was taken.

Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to committing the crime and pleaded guilty, adding that he was influenced by “Satan and his fallen angels”.

The court presided over by Mr Dramani Alhasan remanded him to make way for further investigations into the case.

He is expected to appear before the court on June 14, 2024, at Dambai in the Krachi East Municipality.

In October 2023, a 23-year-old farmer, Kwadwo Noah, attacked and killed his pregnant wife at Kwahu Nframa in the Eastern region.

Noah also injured his two-year-old daughter after attacking his wife on his farm.

It was not clear what triggered his action.

However, information gathered indicated that after he committed this heinous crime, he called his mother on the phone to inform her about the incident.

His mother and some residents rushed to the farm and found the pregnant woman lying in a pool of blood.

According to the Queen mother of Kwahu Nframa, Nana Amoakoaa Ogyampa, she suspected Noah was under the influence of drugs.
