‘Man Utd need four or five transfer windows to get things absolutely right’ – Neville says there is no ‘shortcut’ back to the top

Gary Neville has insisted patience is the key for Manchester United after more stinging criticism in the wake of their shock defeat to Crystal Palace.

The former Red Devils captain predicts his old club won’t be ready to challenge for the Premier League title until 2021-22 season.

United suffered a surprise 2-1 home loss to Palace at the weekend, having started the new season with a home victory over Chelsea and draw at Wolves.

Neville’s former club have endured a tumultuous period since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 – the year of their last title – going through managers and big-money signings in the search for a winning formula.
