Man Utd considering summer move for Harry Kane
Harry Kane is pushing for a summer exit from Tottenham with Manchester United showing interest as they look for a successor to Cristiano Ronaldo, 90min understands.
Kane tried and failed to secure a move away from Spurs at the end of last season with Manchester City most strongly linked with the England captain.
The protracted saga seemed to affect Kane‘s performances earlier this season but he has hit form in recent weeks, netting four goals in his last three Premier League games. Yet, despite Kane’s displays Spurs remain six points adrift of the Champions League places with fourth-placed Arsenal also possessing a game in hand over their fierce rivals.
Results this season have displeased the forward and 90min understands he is looking to leave the club in the summer. Kane believes Spurs do not match his ambitions and if his former manager Mauricio Pochettino takes over at Old Trafford, signing the striker would be a priority.
Kane is not the only player United have earmarked as a potential Ronaldo replacement, though. As 90min reported earlier this month, the club is also open to signing Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich with Die Roten targeting their own swoop for Erling Haaland this summer.
In a recent interview, Kane hinted Spurs’ failure to qualify for Europe would be a source of great frustration.
“Personally, you want to be in the best competitions in the world. My focus is on this year, getting top four is the most important goal for us now,” he told Sky Sports.
“There are 11 games left and if we can get on a run, this is more than possible. That’s all I can control and that’s all the manager can control as well. Let’s see where we end up.”
Despite these comments, Kane did insist he was loving working under Antonio Conte.
“It was no time to panic or sulk. It was a time to work hard and since Antonio’s come in, we’ve had a good understanding with each other. As a player, if you’re improving under a coach, that’s the most important thing,” he added.
“I definitely feel like I’m improving and the team is with Antonio. That motivates you to be even better. Hopefully, we can end the season and give the top four a real go.”
