Man stabs brother to death in Berekum

A family dispute turned deadly in Awerempe, a suburb of Berekum West Municipality, when a 43-year-old man allegedly stabbed his younger brother during a heated argument.

Yaw Owusu, also known locally as ‘Angolo,’ is reported to have fatally attacked his 25-year-old brother, Bright Abotsi, following a confrontation at their residence.

Eyewitnesses say the argument escalated quickly, ending with Owusu allegedly stabbing Bright in the chest with a knife.

The injured young man was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum, but medical staff pronounced him dead on arrival.

The news has left the community in shock, with many struggling to come to terms with the violent turn of events between siblings.

According to police sources, Owusu attempted to flee the scene after the incident but was swiftly apprehended by officers responding to the emergency.

He is currently in custody, assisting with investigations.

The motive behind the argument remains unclear, but authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal stabbing.

The Berekum West Police Command has urged residents to remain calm as they work to uncover the facts.
