A 28-year-old man, identified as Kwadwo Oppong, has been shot dead by his cousin, Adam Fuseini, at Numeriso near Jacobu in the Ashanti Region.

According to a police situational report, Adam shot Kwadwo with a single-barrel gun, after which he fled the crime scene.

The victim was immediately rushed to Numeriso Health Center for treatment but was referred to AGA Hospital, Obuasi, for further treatment.

However, he was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical officer.

The body has since been deposited at the same hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Police investigators, however, revealed that the suspect who fled the area could be hiding in Bawku in the Upper East Region.

They are calling on the public to volunteer information that will lead to his arrest.

This incident comes after a farmer and his labourer were shot on a rice farm at Yorve, near Agordome in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.

The incident happened on Monday, May 20, at around 7 pm.

According to the Assembly Member for Xikpo-Agbagorme Electoral Area, Johnson Kobby Amedzo, the deceased and his workers were harvesting rice when unknown assailants shot him.

He said the farmer, who also owned a rice mill site at Akakpokope near Dabala Junction, was shot after the assailants had shot one of his workers, known as Kafui, while they were packing the harvested rice into a vehicle.

“The deceased, after hearing gunshots and in an attempt to check who was shot during the act, met his untimely death as he was also shot,” he said.

The victims were quickly rushed to the Sogakope District Hospital, but the farmer was pronounced dead on arrival.
