A man from Guli in the Wa municipality has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Mohammed Abudi appeared before the Wa Circuit Court on April 23, 2025, where he admitted to the crime. The court, presided over by His Lordship Jonathan Avoogo, handed down the sentence following his guilty plea.
The incident took place on April 11, 2025, when Abudi committed the offence against the young girl. After the crime was reported, he was apprehended by the Upper West Regional Command two days later, on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
According to a police statement, Abudi’s swift arrest came after thorough investigations by local authorities.
The statement also highlighted that the Regional Command was working hard to ensure that such criminal activities were dealt with swiftly and decisively.
The Upper West Regional Police Command also issued a stern warning to potential offenders, urging them to stay away from such heinous acts.
They emphasised that the law will not tolerate any form of abuse against children and that offenders will face severe penalties.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals, especially children, from exploitation and abuse.
