The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect for destroying a monument at the Airport roundabout in Accra.
A statement issued on Saturday, August 31, 2024, said the suspect, Newwel Gavu, also caused damage to signposts at the roundabout.
“The suspect is currently in custody and will be taken through the due process of the law.
“We would like to commend members of the public and the Airport security for their vigilance which led to the arrest of the suspect,” the statement concluded.
On Friday, August 30, Gavu was captured on video by some passersby tearing the statues of the Big Six apart.
After sharing the video on social media, the eyewitnesses reported the incident to the police leading to his arrest.
